John Atonic is a Canadian music composer, producer, arranger, 

recording, mix, and mastering engineer, and the founder of

ATONIC MUSIC, an independent creative studio based in

Edmonton, Alberta. 


John studied music at Grant MacEwan Community College in 

Edmonton, now known as MacEwan University, where he developed 

his foundation in songwriting, composition, arranging, and guitar 

performance.


As a professional guitarist, he toured across Canada for nearly a 

decade performing in a variety of pop, rock, and country bands. 

His early musical influences included artists such as Jimi Hendrix, 

Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Cream, 

and The Beatles. Later influences expanded into classical and 

jazz music, including Beethoven, Mozart, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, 

Al Di Meola, and John McLaughlin.


In 2011, John developed a strong interest in electronic dance music 

and began incorporating influences from multiple EDM genres into 

his productions. 


In his studio, he composes and arranges music using scoring and 

MIDI production software, drum programming, and synthesizers 

in Reason, integrated with REAPER for recording, vocal production, 

mixing, and mastering. In his early he created demo productions using the legendary Tascam 4-track cassette PortaStudio.


More recently, John began developing independent Android applications, 

combining his background in multimedia, music production, and software development to create original mobile applications.


In addition to his music studies, John earned a Diploma in Audiovisual Communications from Grant MacEwan Community College and a Diploma in Computer Systems Technology / Programmer Analyst from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Now retired from the technology industry, he works on music, and software development projects.
